Thanks for sharing this insightful post! I love the community I’ve found here and on IG but I’m just soooo intimidated to join in person things! I only recently discovered how much I love illustration and drawing and wish I’d made more in person connections when I was in design school… because there were probably people just like me there but I was too busy trying to get an A and get out of there😅

I don't think it's ever too late to start building your artist community - an online group can grow into a personal one if you can find a way to meet - Illoguild as an international group has so far met twice at Bologna book fair but some members who live closer to each other have been known to meet for other occasions, gallery visits, etc.
Depending on where you live you could probably find some fellow artists through regional Facebook groups that organise urban sketching or other fun meets or join a local art club or drawing course (I joined one last year and it was so much fun meeting people I could discuss art supplies with!). Good luck with finding your community!
