Hello everyone, and welcome, new subscribers, thank you for joining me in my little corner of the internet!
And talking about little corners, this past weekend I was reorganising my tiny desk, a little creating space in the corner of my bedroom - the 70 cm wide desktop became my refuge during 2020 lockdown when my children took over the office and the dining room table (my preferred creating spots until then) with their remote school work. I’ve fallen in love with the cozy desk since, my bedroom window gets the morning light and the bird song from nearby trees and the desk size forces me to keep it tidy because any amount of clutter makes the surface unusable. (I still manage to sneak in some pieces of debris that are just “too precious” to throw away…)
Over the weekend I mounted a new wall display for postcards which now features some of my fellow illustrators from the
and others I recently met in Bologna - looking up at all the colourful goodness makes me smile every time 😊.I still primarily draw digitally, on my iPad, which allows me to sit and make myself comfortable anywhere, usually on the couch or at now reclaimed dining room table. But there is something about the discipline of working at a designated spot and focusing on a project without being constantly distracted by the rest of the house (I’m looking at you, mountain of laundry) that makes me most productive at my tiny desk.
So what does your workspace look like? Is it a giant desk, a remote studio, a kitchen table or a garden shed? Let me know in the comments ✏️ !
I hope you have a creative week,
x Damjana
